By the looks of these pictures this probably doesn’t come off as one of the most romantic places in the world and in a conventional sense it is not. I didn’t come here with a boyfriend, I didn’t meet the love of my life here but I did fall head over heels with what will always be my greatest love… travel. This to me was the most magical spot on earth. Small town in the middle of no-where Burma. This is a place of dusty roads and rice fields. A town of little yellow butterflies and river to float down… a place of warm smiles and exotic food and drink. When I was here there was only electricity until 9pm and when the lights went out at night the sky was filled with stars like nothing I’d ever seen. There was also no hot water here but I remember boiling pots of water over a fire for a lovely warm ‘bath’. I could go on and on about my memories of Hsipaw but to me this place felt so exotic and so mysterious, it was a place where anything could happen. It’s a feeling I’ve found myself searching for the rest of my life. And one day I’ll return with that special someone.
Not a typical destination, the ancient city of Bagan is like nothing I’ve seen before… ancient ruins of temples for as far as the eye can see. Dirt roads with horse carts weave through the massive temple complex. What’s so wonderful about this place is the ‘undiscovered’ feel of it. It’s not ‘undiscovered’ but still, as a tourist, you’re free to roam the grounds wherever you like. Free to climb in and upon most of the temples and play and explore and as the sun sets, grab a horse cart to take you home. This place will blow you away, I promise.
