Romantic Places is a travel blog but more specifically it is a collection of the most romantic places in the world... anything from the urban streets of your city to an obscure island thousands of miles away. We'd love to hear your most romantic place.

We took the slow boat (maybe an hour and a half) from Kuala Besut and arrived at the islands. Palm fringed beaches, turquoise water… it’s beautiful and super romantic. The snorkeling here is awesome. You can also go kayaking, scuba diving, jungle trekking or just relax - read a book, eat delicious seafood, have a cocktail (but not in the muslim owned establishments - a lot of people brought their own). And the most romantic part? Sit on the beach with your loved one and watch the sun set over this breathtaking landscape. sigh.
We came to Cameron Highlands merely to escape the hot temperatures of the lowlands (this region of Malaysia has wonderfully cool nights) only to find it completely beautiful. Set amongst rolling hills, the Cameron Highlands are great for a romantic getaway. You can hike in the stunning area, visit the boh tea plantation, pick strawberries… there are waterfalls and forests and a great little town to explore - what more do you need?

Kuala Lumpur is a big city and there are a lot of things to do. See the Petronas Towers (which IS really cool), batu caves, see the beautiful mosques and temples… but make sure you do that during the day because in my opinion, romance was found in the vibrant markets of KL, specifically the night markets. After the sun has set, venture out to sample delicious food with your honey! Look at the wares for sale. Navigate the streets and alleyways and simply take it all in. The food is insanely delicious. Bring small bills.
Said to be the oldest jungle in the world, Taman Negara is a magical place. Whether or not the age of this place is true, it certainly feels like it. The trees are so big and old that you almost expect them to start talking to you - lord of the rings style. This place typifies ‘jungle’. If you find romance in a lazy ride down a slow moving river, a walk among a jungle canopy, in wildlife teeming with tropical birds and unusual insects (not to mention rarely seen tigers, rhinos, elephants…) then this place would be perfect for you. An added bonus is that this spot is reached by train and boat… the two loveliest forms of transport.
