241. Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany

They say this castle was the inspiration for the castle in Disney’s, “Sleeping Beauty”, a modern day benchmark for romance.  Nestled in a picturesque setting amongst rolling hills and the alps this castle is out of a fairy tale.  It starts with a beautiful, somewhat strenuous hike up to the castle (you can also take a bus or horse buggy for the real romantics out there).  Unfortunately you can only see it by guided tour but it’s still a sight to see - The castle is ornate but the best part about it is the views, they are breath taking.  This is undoubtedly a romantic little trip.

232. Mosel Valley (Cochem to Beilstein) Germany

Mosel Valley is a river valley part of which runs through Germany.  The valley is speckled with picturesque towns… Cochem and it’s upstream neighbor Beilstein, are two of the towns.  Cochem is more bustling and touristy and Beilstein more quiet (without grocery stores or ATMS - at least when we were there).  You can bike between the towns, they are only 7 miles apart.  Both of these places are picturesque, perhaps Beilstein moreso.  They are places of hiking and bike rides and river boats.  They are towns of castles, fabulous architecture, wineries and winding cobblestone streets.   It is very romantic to spend the day together in such beautiful surroundings where wine and beer flow so freely and the views are free and plentiful.

223. Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a fantastically preserved medieval town.  It is filled with quaint architecture, winding alleys and cobblestone roads.  This place feels so sweet and romantic.  Get transported to a different time in this magical place.  There are great cafes and restaurants, have a beer and some delicious baked goods and let it all sink in.
