Kovachevitsa is one of the national architectural legends in serene Rodopi mountains of Southern Bulgaria.
It’s a place where time stops and the spirit rejuvenates through the simple joys of the crisp air, the peaceful pace of village life and the warmth of smiling local people.
The village is the perfect escape only a couple of hours from major cities yet millennia away from the fast pace of urban life.
Wow, this place is just breath-taking. A picturesque lake nestled within the snow-capped mountains. In the middle of this lake is an island on the island is a castle - exploring this place can make for a totally romantic day. You can hike around the lake and take a traditional wooden boat (called a Pletna) out to the island where you can explore the castle area, see lots of great views and even visit a winery - does it get any more romantic than that? Not for me it doesn’t. There is also great hiking and rafting in the area.

The city of Dubrovnik in Croatia is one of the most beautiful places I have ever experienced. The city itself is surrounded by giant smooth stone walls, and the building have that old-world great romance feel to them. Dubrovnik is right on the water and although beach space is limited, this is the best place to cliff-dive. Along the cliffs there are numerous drink places that are perfect to sit at during sunset.
