230. Halifax, Canada

SUBMITTED BY: http://moonlityork.tumblr.com/

Halifax is a gorgeous city on the Atlantic cost of Canada, in one of the country’s most beautiful provinces. The city abounds in culture, heritage, and good food. Even if you’re not a fan of seafood, you’ll find something to love! Halifax is a city of laidback people, cosy pubs, and historical and quaint architecture, while at the same time being a modern destination for outdoorsy tourists. Grab Cow’s brand ice cream while walking along the harbour boardwalk, or stroll hand-in-hand through the gardens, or dine aboard a floating restaurant - there’s a lot for lovers to do! Exploring the star-shaped Citadel is an absolute must, as is visiting the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and Pier 21 (Canada’s Ellis Island). Closeby to Halifax are many other delightful places, including the famous lighthouse at Peggy’s cove, and the seaside town of Lunenburg, where the Bluenose schooner was built. Halifax is a charming city within a charming country, and a great introduction to the wonders of the Maritimes!

Whistler, Canada

*Whistler Canada is a mountain that some people call Blackcomb because it’s neighboring mountain. Its a ski resort but there is also a little town that has many different restaurants and shops as well as nearby hiking. Its really romantic cause there is soooo much snow and its always nice to go out on the deck with your loved one with a blanket and sit there with each other snuggling and such.

*post not numbered as we have already featured Whistler - but we like repeats*

195. Banff, Canada

Many years ago, when I was traveling in Asia, I met a dream-blue-collar man from Canada.  I remember he told me he lived near Lake Louise and made snow at a ski resort in Banff.  We had a great 3 day affair and then I left the country.  7 years later my parents invited me to Banff with them.  How could I refuse?  This area is magnificent - the views are so beautiful they seem unreal.  This is a place of skiing and skating, of hiking and camping and boating, of luxury resort stay and fine food - there is a beautiful hotel nestled in the mountains with hot springs and music and dancing. Not romantic with my parents but in my mind it would have been so wonderful with him.  I kept thinking I saw him everywhere but upon getting a closer look I was mistaken.  Our paths never crossed again - at least not yet - it doesn’t stop this place from being totally special.  Which it is.

153. Whistler, British Columbia, Canada

Whistler, a town that we recognize now as the host for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games definitely has a more intimate side beneath its athletic repute. Cradled between a numerous mountains, the village is the hub of all Whistler life. The quaint, alpine environment accommodates for romantic evening walks and intimate dining. But Whistler has even more to offer above ground level. You can take the lift ride up Whistler Mountain to catch the Peak-2-Peak gondola, about a 10-15 ride from Whistler’s peak to Blackcomb Mountains. On both mountains you can enjoy more lift rides that take you to various sites, each one ensuring an incredibly beautiful view of the snow-capped terrain, embellished richly with pine trees and boulders - enough to take your breath away.

Niagara Falls, Canada

Niagara Falls!!** Honeymoon capital, the falls are soo gorgeous and breathtaking. During the day, you can stand right at the brink, or take the Maid of the Mist boat ride into the mist. During the nighttime powerful Xenon lights illuminate both the Canadian horseshoe falls and the American falls in many different colours. Along with the waters beauty, fireworks happen 3 nights a week in the summer time where many couples like to cuddle on the beautiful grounds to watch. Horse and carriage rides are completely romantic and travel alongside the water, right to the falls. The falls leads to class 6 rapids, which is one of the most dangerous in the world. The Niagara gorge is a romantic place to go for a hike with your lover as you marvel at the beauty of the nature surrounding you. And I’m lucky enough to live and work in this environment each and every day ! : )

** This post is not numbered as we have featured Niagra Falls in the past, but it’s a great spot to revisit!**

144. Pelee Island, Canada

Pelee Island is located in the most southern tip of Canada. To get to the island, you take an hour and a half long ferry ride which is really romantic and cute to go with a loved one. The island itself is very small, and often bicycles built for two is the preferred form of transportation! The sunrise and sunset along the beaches are breathtaking and perfect to enjoy with someone special. There is a winery complete with a snack shack where you can bbq your own burgers while enjoying local wines. A really perfect getaway, combined with a serenity that only the nature of the island can bring!

71. Victoria BC, Canada

I called Victoria my home for just a few years, but the impression it left on me has never gone away. Everything about the city is romantic.. It’s like living in a dream! From the gorgeous Empress Hotel, to the Inner Harbour that it looks out onto with its very talented buskers who can be seen performing there everyday, to beautiful Beacon Hill Park (and so many other beautiful parks), and even the Ross Bay Cemetary on Fairfield Road. Victoria is a paradise for anyone who seeks a quiet, relaxed, walking holiday as it’s easy to see a lot without going too far in this quaint city.

Last but not least, the people who live here make it all the more enjoyable with their friendly and outgoing nature; don’t be surprised if a walk through the old neighbourhoods spurs a wave or hello, waiting in line spurs an indepth conversation, or if an older lady offers you cookies on the harbour. That’s just ‘the norm’ in Victoria.

57. Niagara Falls, Canada/US

The Niagara Falls in the province of Ontario in Canada. I think Niagara Falls is romantic because it is so majestic. To stand over the falls at night with a loved one, looking at the lights and listening to nothing but the sheer power of the rushing falls kind of puts everything into perspective. I love the falls.

53. Kelowna, BC , Canada

The major city of Canada’s (surprisingly warm) Okanagan Valley, Kelowna is a beautiful city to visit for some summer loving. Between the lake (said to harbour a Loch-Ness-Monster-esque beast called the Ogopogo) and the mountains it’s a great place to see some beautiful Canadian scenery. The beautiful vineyards are the main attraction, producing high quality wine and lovely views. Rent a car and drive up the hills to look at the stunning houses that overlook the lake before going to a winery for an excellent dinner and locally produced wine.
