Bold modern design and warm Mediterranean light filtering through shutters and casting long shapes across beautiful flooring. Traditional Spain meets the contemporary design world in exemplary fashion in the varied, exciting and chic fabulous Barcelona hotels across the city. True romance unfolds between crisp white sheets, surrounded by immaculate furnishings, or over a café con leche breakfast on a panoramic terrace. If you prefer your fairytale in classic, opulent places, there are extravagant hotels aplenty. Embellished walls with golden furnishings and antique furniture recreate a royal world in a city of passion and contradiction.

Oh Barcelona, where do I even begin? What I love MOST about living in this amazing city, was the incredible juxtaposition of old and new and the vibrancy with which Catalans embrace life (past, present, and future) on a daily basis. Barcelona is like a set of nesting dolls. You can stay for a week and fall in love with the curves of Casa Mila, the nearby Mediterranean Sea, the lengthy moonlit dinners on Las Ramblas, and the whimsy of Parc Guell. You can stay for a month and fall in love with the twists and turns of the Barri Gotic, the ceiling of Santa Maria del Mar, seeing the sunrise as you leave the discotheque at 6 am, Parc Ciutadella in spring, and the joys of bargaining for fruit in La Boqueria. You can stay for a year and fall in love with the ever-evolving street fashion, the lingering effects of the brutal idealistic conflict that was the Spanish Civil War, the fresh graffiti over ancient stone walls, and the poetic sounds of Catalonia. And I imagine that you can stay for a lifetime and never discover all that is Barcelona…but, believe me, I wouldn’t mind trying :)

(this post isn’t numbered because Barcelona was mentioned a while ago… but the text was so nice I thought I’d revisit Barcelona)

Parque Güell is located in Barcelona, Spain. It is an enchanting place with gorgeous, unique architecture by Gaudí the transports you to another world. Grab your partners hand and wander through this park will melting buildings and curvy tunnels. This park is a magical place I’ll never forget. When I was there I saw a couple getting married - a really ideal spot to tie the knot. This is a truly romantic place.

I visited Barcelona 8 months ago and am totally in love with the city.
I love the detailed architecture on the buildings, especially Segrada Familia (third picture down). Though it’s still under construction everyone (locals and visitors) make contributions to the building… It belongs to everyone, and it is as romantic as it is beautiful. Only people with a huge love of arts could make such a magnificent, detailed building :)
I wish to return, of course with a loved-one. Hopefully Segrada Familia will be completed by then :)
