Macedonia is a hidden treasure of the Balkans, with its beautifully calm lakes surrounded by mountains. My reason for visiting is family, but there’s no denying the beauty that this small country holds. Walking through Ohrid and its cobblestone paths will lead you to scenic and ancient churches, not to mention a great view of Lake Ohrid itself. This country holds so much history and often goes unnoticed because of the more popular countries surrounding it, but if you are looking for a quiet and romantic location, Macedonia is the perfect place to start. Who wouldn’t want to see the home of King Alexander the Great?
